WordPress – Replace default footer copyright info

By default WordPress adds copyright and theme acknowledgement details to the footer. This can be changed by updating the footer.php file.

1. Open the Editor from the Appearance menu.
2. Select the relevant theme and find footer.php under the templates section.
3. Scroll down and you should find a

section or something similar.
4. In this div you should see the footer text, update as necessary and click the Update File button.

WordPress – Show a list of child pages on the parent page

Sometimes is can be useful to show a list of child pages in the parent page. This is easy to do using WordPress.

1. Select Appearance > Editor.
2. On the right hand side under Templates there should be a functions.php option, click this.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the functions.php file which should have opened in the central box.
4. Copy and paste the following:

5. Click the Update File button
6. Open the page you want the child list to appear on and enter the following Shortcode

[wpb_childpages]

WordPress Visual Editor image alignment

Using the WordPress Visual Editor it's easy to align images to the left or right of text. You may have found the text either positions itself above or below the image. However by following these simple instructions your image and text should be where you want it.

1. Make the the editor is in Visual mode by clicking the Visual tab.

2. Enter the text you want to appear on the page.

3. Position the cursor at the beginning of your text.

4. Click the Add Media button and select the image to insert.

5. Once the image is on the page select it my clicking once, then use the alight left and right buttons to possition your image accordingly. The text should wrap around the text.

6. Can also insert two images side-by-side by aligning one left and one right. However you must ensure the width of the two images does not exceed the page width. If is does the images will move one under the other. 

Disable WordPress comments

Settings >> Discussion >> uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles”

This applies to new posts that you will publish from now on. To disallow comments from already publish posts:

Posts >> select them all and “Edit” under bulk actions and hit apply >> choose “do not allow” next to comments and hit update posts.
